Tonsillectomy, Adenoidectomy and Turbinate Reduction

Big words for a little guy! May 28 Riley had his tonsils and adenoids out and a turbinate reduction. Yeah, that last one is new to me. It was something to open up his nostrils, so he can breathe through his nose easier. He was a trooper. The day of the surgery, we had to be there at 8:30 and they did not take him back until 10:30. Did I mention he couldn't eat anything? He did very well... TV to the rescue.

The next few days were a little rough, but manageable. He woke up several times a night for medication and to drink. He was/is the sweetest little boy. The day after his surgery was my birthday. He said, "Mommy, I hate that you are having to take care of me on your birthday. If you ever have to have your tonsils and adenoids out, I will take care of you." He was all snuggle-y and lovey. Mom and I figured out ...we think it was the Lortab! :) It took him to his happy place! All day on my birthday, he kept asking if I was having a good day.... over and over. I kept reassuring him that there was no where else I wanted to be. Nothing else I wanted to do.

Reagan pretty much loved Riley having his tonsils out. He would ask for a snow cone or milkshake, and even if Reagan was in another room, you would hear a little high pitched, "Me too?" come from her direction. She loved all the unlimited TV too. We moved the love seat into the toy room so they could each have a "couch."

His breathing is so very much better at night. He is resting better, but I have not seen a remarkable change in the bed wetting. He has stayed dry 2 nights since he recovered, because I got him up to go during the night. That is a change for the better, because usually he still wets his pull up even if I get him up. Hopefully he is on the up swing on that issue.

Thanks for all the prayers as always!
