First, I just bought the refill pack. I knew we wouldn't use the book. We used a Christmas coloring book that Sue gave Riley a couple of years ago. It has simple pictures in it. Step one is to trace the image onto the rough side of the paper. (we used sharpies... be sure to have all the colors you want in thick and thin tip... we didn't have a thick brown... gotta go get one tomorrow.) I made one with a bear reading a book for Riley's annual ornament, because he is reading so well now. Advice - don't write words on it until after it bakes... words are backwards on shiny side.... live and learn!
Step 2, color the picture. (Tongue hanging out is optional, but it always works for Riley and Dustin!) Then cut it out. Be sure to hole punch it before you bake it! You do not have to cut on the line. It looks best if you don't.
Step 3, bake at 325 degrees for about 5 minutes. Watch it the whole time. The kids loved watching it curl up and go flat again.
