This week was Vacation Bibile School at our church, so it has been a crazy week. I taught crafts and the kids had fun in their classes. Things are going ok, just busy. I am really missing Dustin today. He would have been 36 tomorrow.... then there's Father's Day on Sunday. At VBS today, I was helping in a "survival skills" class... earlier this week, we had talked about what you needed to survive when lost in the woods, how to tie knots... Today, we had kind of run out of things to do, so we got some flashlights, turned off the lights, sat in a circle and told stories. (These are 10-11 year old kids.) Their stories were lacking a little, so I piped in with a few "Dustin stories." I told the squirrel story, the mouse story, and the possum story. They really enjoyed it. I never said anything about what had happened to Dustin. I am sure they assumed he is still alive. There was no need to tell them any differently. It is just weird for me. I miss him so terribly. He had such a love for life. He lived it to the fullest while he was here. I think of that often when I squeeze in something fun for the kids, like going to the pool for just an hour after Reagan gets up from her nap and before supper. It would be so much easier to stay around the house, but Dustin would not have done that. He always squeezed in fun stuff, no matter how busy he was or how late it would make him.
Thank you for the e-mails about praying for us and remembering us this weekend. Keep those prayers coming.
