Rain, Rain, Beautiful Rain

It rained off and on all day yesterday in my neighborhood, and I must say it made me very happy. My air conditioner was able to keep the house a very chilly 73 degrees. I think I actually got acclimated somewhat to the warmer house after dealing with it for 5 days. I will not miss carrying my oscillating fan from room to room. Yes, I have ceiling fans, but if I was going to do any kind of activity, I needed a fan blowing directly on me. Meanwhile, Riley and Reagan were under their blankets on the couch with the ceiling fan on HIGH, yelling, "I'm FREEZING could you please turn off that fan?" Whose children are they? They're mine, because I am usually the one that is always cold. I will never forget the time that our pastor asked the congregation if anybody was cold, and my lonely hand shot up. He asked the guy next to me (my then boyfriend) to put his arm around me. Then he proceeded to ask someone in the back to turn the air conditioner on. Did I mention that you can hang meat in our church? Anyway, we are much more comfortable now.

Moving right along.

Random funnies:
Reagan wanted to put on a princess costume while her friend Garrett was over to play, but the bus was almost here with Riley and Garrett's brothers so I put her off. We went to our other neighbor's house for a while after that, then when we got home, she brought it to me. I told her to take off her dress, but she just hung her head and sadly said, "Never mind, Garrett not here anymore." !!! She was dressing up for him!

This morning I cut up a watermelon that I had bought from a farmer on the side of the highway. Riley tasted it and said, "MMMMM, this tastes FARM FRESH, Mommy." I guess it is farm fresh! :)

I have learned that I can do the treadmill while the kids are awake if I do it during their TV time. Although, at some point they do usually end up in the room with me... running in place alongside the treadmill just grinning from ear to ear.

I have begun praying aloud over Riley just before he gets out of the car for school. It usually goes something like this:
Me: Dear God, please keep Riley safe at school today.
Reagan: and me
Me: Yes, Dear, and you. Please remind him to be quiet in the hallways, and when the teacher is teaching.
Reagan: and help my cough to be better
Me: Yes, sweetie, and your cough to get better. Please help open up Riley's mind so he can learn new things today.
Reagan: and me too.
Me: and Reagan, too. Amen

We went out to Granny and Paw Paw's again today. (After Andy and Keith came over to handle a few things on my "to do" list. Thank you, guys!) Riley has been asking for crab legs for dinner all week, so we headed to Granny's for lunch and what we thought would be an afternoon by the pool. Well, about 10 minutes into the trip to the pool....

The bottom fell out, but the kids didn't mind.

We simply moved the party to Granny's driveway.

This was taken last weekend at Granny's. They were helping Granny make banana muffins. Can you tell they were excited? The muffins were excellent! Notice the Splenda box. We were very healthy until we added the dollop of powdered sugar icing on top of the warm banana goodness. Reagan of course kept saying, "Dare not muffins, dare cupcakes, I don't like muffins."

Friday, I decided it was time to teach Reagan how to use the mouse on the computer. She took to it very well. I needed to take a shower, so I left her playing Curious George on PBSkids.org thinking, "She'll get tired of the same game and won't know how to get to another game and she'll give up." When I returned from the shower, she was still in front of the computer playing Teletubbies and had printed out a coloring book page from the Teletubbies site!! Boy was I wrong!

The girl is into the the tattoos and stickers too. This is a whole sheet of Barbie stickers. Notice the Little Mermaid McDonald's toy hair bow, compliments of Tricia and Victoria!
