When does school start?

I think the kids are finally asleep. Thanks for the prayers for Riley's sleep. He is doing better; he is no longer waking during the night.

We (I) am READY for school to start. I packed out our June, but the last two weeks of July have been filled with a little too much "family time." We took a mini-vacation to Granny and Paw Paw's for a couple of days this week. I get tired of every bath, every bedtime, every meal, every time-out, ... being up to me, so I spread the love and "let" G and PP help out. We spent some time at the neighbor's pool, of course. We played lots of games (lots of checkers!). I was able to jog on the treadmill with very limited interruptions, and best of all, I got caught up on my SLEEP!

Random funnies lately:

Reagan (while going to the "bathroom," if you know what I mean):

It taking me a long time to go to the bathroom, because I eat a lot.

Reagan does take a while to "take care of business" as Dustin used to say. And, like her father, her feet will fall asleep while on the pot! I can't believe this is a trait that will carry on in his children! If you knew D very well, you'd know that he would not consider that over-sharing. He was always happy to discuss "bathroom issues."

Last week, while we were at the pool, Reagan was playing with another little girl and her Barbie Mermaidia dolls (I had never heard of them, either), but of course, Reagan was on those dolls like white on rice. She had all three in her arms and was attempting to swim to the deep end (probably because she thought the other little girl couldn't get to them in the deep and she would have them all to herself :)! Well, she got halfway there and looked as though she was struggling, but she wouldn't drop the dolls to save herself!!! I very UN-gracefully jumped in to scoop her up. Clutching the dolls to her chest she thanked me for helping her. I told her next time to drop the dolls and swim to the side, but I have a feeling that won't happen. I got on e-bay and found the dolls; they are tucked away in my closet to use as future "incentives" (doesn't that sound better than "bribe"?)

Riley has perfected the "cannonball." He has me float in the deep end while he cannonballs all around me and I rate them on a scale of 1 -10. I just rave over each one, complementing his splash and the waves that he produces. He never tires of the complements or the cannonballs.

Here is another Riley story from May, 2003, Riley was 3 years old.

I am standing at the trash can with his paper airplane.
Me: Riley, can I throw this away?
Riley: Who throw that away?
Me: No, can I throw it away? Are you done with it?
Riley: “Can I” your friend?
He thought that "can I" was a name!!

Good Night, All!
