While in the pool when we were on vacation, she said, "I don't want to melt!" (Meaning "I don't want to drown!")
The other day she was playing in her room while I was cleaning the kitchen. She came out with her teenager look and voice, "Ma-om (rolling her eyes up, hand on hip), kitty is in my ro - om. He's bovering (bothering) me!"
Sunday, she was all strapped in the car and she announces she needs to "go potty in the back of the car." (I have a training potty lined with a ziploc bag in the back of the van for emergencies.)
Me: No, sweetie, we will go in the house to go potty.
Reagan: Can I go TT on your yard like Riley did at Granny's house?
Me: No, baby, God made girls to sit down and go TT. If you stand up, you will get your pants all wet.
Reagan (sitting on the potty): Well, God said....(thinking).... God said that when I grow up I can stand up and go TT in the grass and it not get my pants all wet.
You may or may not know that I got a new Honda Odyssey this past weekend (!), but Monday, Reagan and I had to take it in to get it all cleaned up and what-not. They let us take an accord to run errands and (supposedly) come back and get our van. Reagan and I went to Wal-mart, went home, unloaded the groceries, and Reagan lagged behind in the car. I told her to close her door and come inside. She did, but in doing so, she locked the keys in the car! Nothing is ever simple with us. She felt terrible about it too. Our salesman ended up bringing the van and the spare key to the accord, so all is well. We are enjoying our new van and a special thank you goes to Andy for spending over 8 hours with me to make the decision and the deal! He was very helpful!!
Yesterday, I helped Riley with a career family tree where he had to list careers in his family and choose a possible career for himself. First he said he didn't want to do anything. He just wants to "stay home" which (I think) he thinks is what I do. I told him if he didn't have a job, he wouldn't have any money. He said, "OK, OK, I'll be a bike rider!" He'll be raking in the dough!
When Riley got off the bus on Monday afternoon, he was wearing a huge smile and carrying a large envelope. Inside the envelope was a ribbon, an invitation and a certificate for having his artwork (along with a few other students' work) chosen to represent his school at the county artshow this Sunday!! I am so excited for him! Unfortunately, he will be attending the NASCAR race with Tyler and Paw Paw on Sunday afternoon. For his birthday, Tyler asked for a steak dinner and to go see #8 race. He got both! Riley is very excited too!
Yesterday we went to the bookstore so Riley could spend his giftcard on some Magic Tree House books. I had to try to explain to him about waiting for the hardbacks to go to paperback (he wanted the hardbacks even though we haven't finished the paperbacks yet). As we were walking ot the car with 2 paperbacks, he said, "I can't wait for the sea serpent one to go to software!"
*** Prayer Requests****
Reagan is struggling with a viral sore throat... we're both losing sleep! Please pray for healing!
Please pray for comfort for "Angela" who lost her husband in a car accident recently. They had only been married 8 months.
Please pray for comfort and strength for "Melissa" who also lost her husband suddenly. She has a 3 year old and an 8 month old.
I am sending each of them a copy of the book When Your Soul Aches by Lois Rabey. I read it soon after D's death. I highly recommend it for widows. Unfortunatley, I have sent out at least 5 copies since D's death.
