Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty!

Meet Mittser

Yes, the kids got a surprise early birthday present yesterday! They were so very surprised and elated! We have been through an array of names over the past 24 hours. Hopefully, this one will stick. I don't think we are confusing him, just me! I think we have settled on Mittser (a variation of Mittens that Riley came up with.) Reagan wanted to name him "dog!" He is from the pound and he's about 3 months old. I chose him because, well, look at him, and then when I held him, he immediately began purring, rubbing his head on my chin and "making biscuits." He is very sweet and docile with the kids, but they, of course, have to chase him down first. Reagan will hold him for a few seconds and then give him back or insist he needs to go to his bed or the litter box. Riley loves to sit and pet him and try to get him to play with his toys. I think it is going to take a little while for the little guy to feel comfortable enough to be playful. Last night Riley said they were under the covers in his bed (he, Reagan and the kitty) when "it started to stink real bad!"

(I wrote the above on Saturday.) Mittser is settling in quite well. He is very playful and loving. I had to take him to the vet ($$) yesterday, because he has a cold. He is on an antibiotic($$), and I am assured he will be fine. I was concerned, because well, most of you remember the kitten that D and I had that D almost neutered for us.... Ok, here goes, we had a kitten that was extremely playful. D was trying to hang curtains and the kitten wanted to play. D put the drill close to the kitty and gave it a spin. Well, that not only scared the kitty away, it ripped the skin and fur off the kitty's parts. After a lot of explaining, a couple of hundred dollars and an emergency neutering, the kitten ended up dying of pneumonia from the anesthesia. (He wasn't big enough to handle the anesthesia.) I was concerned the same thing had happened to Mittser, but I have been assured he is plenty big and will be fine!

Update on house issues:
I need to call my builder to see when the sheet rock guy is going to show up and I am pretty sure I have decided who I will hire to do the work on the side yard. Let the fun begin - not!
