Mother's Day morning I woke up with a scratchy throat and my ears felt "funny." I figured I had whatever Reagan has had for a few days... Sinus drip and I had maybe slept with my mouth open which gave me the sore throat. I got myself ready for church, then woke the kids and reminded them it was Mother's Day about 5 times. Thanks to a Saturday shopping trip with Ed and Andy, my kids got me some beautiful and thoughtful gifts: a Mac Dowell (Mac Powell) CD, a lovely pair of blue Hawaiian print flip flops (in the right size!), some sugar free chocolate turtles (mama is watching her weight, you know), and five dollars in cash ("from Daddy" according to Riley).
*** pause for a Reagan story*** We get in the car to leave Ed and Sallie's on Saturday and the following conversation takes place:
Reagan: I want some chocolate turtles.
Me: I don't have any.
Reagan: Yes, you do. They in that bag right there. (pointing to the Mother's Day gift from her)
I look at Riley and he is wide eyed and grinning from ear to ear.
Ok, back to the story. We had a good day at church and God is so good, because I didn't hold any babies during the 9:30 hour ( I usually keep bed babies.) Instead, they had me strolling the bye-bye buggy which is always fun to see everyone's expression as I stroll by with 5 or 6 eight month old babies.
We went to Granny and PawPaw's after church and my throat seemed to be getting worse. Reagan decided she wanted to stay and spend the night and I encouraged it! Riley and I headed home. Monday morning I woke up with one of the worst sore throats ever. Reluctantly, I head to the doc in the box.... strep throat. I called Mom to have her bring Reagan in because, sure enough, she has it too. Of course, she was Miss Bouncy at the pediatrician and I was laid out on the table. The Dr. said that adult cases are more severe than cases in children... we were living proof. I went home and rested in the bed for a couple of hours while mom handled the kids. When I got up, Reagan was dancing and running and singing. I am glad she had the milder case, but next time, lets just not get sick, thank you very much!
I am happy to report that both patients are doing much better today!!
