We went out to my parents' house on the lake on Sunday and we just got back today. Unfortunately, I didn't take my camera. I wish I could show you pictures of the kids on the inner tube behind the pontoon boat. They had a blast. They would sit and ride for hours if Paw Paw would drive them. I rode with Reagan at one point and she just talked to whole time:
What's that there?
Where Riley?
I get in (the lake) now?
See that old duck?
There's TREASURE down there! Like on TV!
They swam in the neighbor's pool several times, even though the water is still pretty cold in my opinion. Reagan is back to swimming without floaties. Again, I wish I had a camera or a video of her swimming. She would throw her head back to take a breath then fling her head forward to go under to swim all of 4 inches. She had trouble getting anywhere because she was swimming DOWN, you know with her rear in the air.
Riley's big thrills were building a campfire in the front yard and going to the deer camp with Paw Paw. Yes, we are experiencing a drought and we built a fire. We are so irresponsible! Of course, we had to drive the golf cart around the yard to pick up sticks to burn. He was so genuinely excited when he found BIG! ONES! The best part in my opinion was the roasting of the MINI marshmallows... Granny was out of the large ones. They still tasted good. I commented to Riley that the taste of roasted marshmallows reminded me of his Daddy. He said, "You're not gonna cry, are you, Mommy?" I said no. I loaded Reagan's stick with marshmallows and she would get within 12 feet of the fire, stick out her stick for 5 seconds, then pronounce them DONE! and eat them. I got her to try the roasted ones once, but she spit them out and said they tasted DIRTY!
Riley is not home yet from his deer camp adventure, but I am sure he will have lots to tell when he returns.
Yesterday was my birthday, the big 3-4! I have been celebrating on and off since Friday. We had our 3rd annual girls luncheon at the Cheesecake Factory, which is always a good time. I even got to shop for a little while afterwards. Anna (summer babysitter) kept the kids and when I woke Reagan up from her nap...
Me: Did you have a good time with Miss Anna?
Reagan: Yes
Me: Do you just LOVE Miss Anna?
Reagan: No, I love just Mommy.
On Sunday, we had crawfish that Dad had brought back from a business trip. They were excellent. Reagan even tried one. She popped it right in her mouth, chewed it up, swallowed it, then stuck her tongue out and tried to scrape the taste buds off! No more for her! She did enjoy talking to the "crabs," though.
I promise to take pictures next time!
